JROTC Anniversary 5K Run

BE ON TV! BREAK A GUINNESS WORLD RECORD! EARN CASH FOR YOUR UNIT!

Hello! We want YOU to help us celebrate JROTC's 99th Anniversary and to show the world JROTC's powerful impact and influence! We are organizing the largest 5K Run that will break the Guinness World Record! Our goal is to have every Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps JROTC unit organize a 5K Run, to include your high school and community. We will have a simultaneous start from the main event in Washington, D.C.

Worried about planning a 5K Run by yourself? All the planning documents and information about setting up the Run for your school can be found on our website. We have completed most of the planning work for you; all you have to do is follow the instructions provided. Once the official registration is open, you will receive an email with instructions on how to register for the JROTC 99th Anniversary 5K Run! For a general overview of the Run, and to see which units are already participating, visit ourhome page. Please look below for an overview of the benefits that taking part in this historical event will provide.

JROTC Cadet Benefits:

  • Guinness World Record: How often does your PT have historic significance? By joining this race, you WILL be a part of history by breaking a Guinness World Record - Most Participants in a 5K Run (multiple locations)! Participation certificates will be provided to each runner/walker.

  • SAT/ACT Preparation Study Guide: Every JROTC cadet who signs up for the race will receive online access to an award-winning SAT/ACT study guide (a $75 value) for FREE! Utilizing these materials are proven to increase scores.

  • Service Learning Project/Community Service Hours: Because each unit is hosting its own race, or participating in regional races, cadets can use the event as their annual Service Learning Project (providing associated requirements are met) or they can earn community service hours.

  • Fundraising: The fundraising project we have created does not involve a middleman, so 100% of the profits you raise go straight to your unit!

  • College and ROTC Connections: In addition to the FREE SAT/ACT study guide, College Options Foundation is a great  resource for connecting to colleges and ROTC programs across the nation. We'd be happy to provide you with information about furthering your education and pursuing a career in civilian or military sectors!

JROTC Instructor Benefits: *Our goal is to develop an event that highlights you and your program, and as an added benefit recognizes your high school as well.

  • SAT/ACT Preparation Study Guide: Not only will all registered cadets and their high school friends who register for the race receive access to the study guide, you as an instructor will be granted access to share with the school's administration to promote JROTC as an academic program.

  • Service Learning Project/Community Service Hours: Organizing a local race will involve little hassle thanks to the documents and directions we have provided on our website.  Letters and presentations associated with the project will help set your units up for greater success in 2016!

  • Guinness World Record: By having your unit participate, your unit and high school will be included in an internationally recognized organization.

  • Fundraising:  As stated above, all the proceeds your unit raises will stay with you, allowing your budget to expand greatly in these tough economic times. Commemorative items such as t-shirts, jackets and other collectables will help increase participation while providing much needed unit funds.

  • College and ROTC Connections: You want the best for your unit and cadets, and College Options Foundation can help provide that. Our mission is getting high school students into college; every high school student participating in the 5K will be connected to colleges matching them with their desired skills, interests and aspirations.
